How long does petal card approval take?
Petal processes applications in a few seconds, so you’ll usually find out whether or not you were approved shortly after you submit your application. Our decision may be delayed if your application requires additional review, but we’ll make sure to let you know if that happens.
Is it hard to get approved for Petal?
Petal does run a “hard” credit check when you formally apply for the Petal® 2 “Cash Back, No Fees” Visa® Credit Card. Hard inquiries can knock points off your credit score. Before you get to that point, however, you go through a pre-approval process that consists of a “soft” check that has no impact on your score. 6
What credit bureau does petal visa use?
Petal reports card activity to all three major credit bureaus: Equifax, Experian and TransUnion. You need at least one active bank account to apply for the card.
Does Petal 1 do a hard inquiry?
Yes, the Petal 1 Card will do a hard pull when you apply for it. This might have a short-term negative effect on your credit score. However, when you submit your information for pre-approval, the issuer will only perform a soft pull on your credit which won’t affect your credit score.
How do you get invited to Petals?
To get the Petal card, you’ll still need to submit an application. Just go to www.petalcard.com/invite and enter your unique invite code and last name. By entering your invite code, you’ll unlock the APR on your mailer.
Does petal pre approval affect credit score?
Petal 2 Card pre-approvals do not affect your credit score, as they’re done using a soft “pull,” or inquiry. But if you decide to submit an application for the Petal 2 Card, Petal will conduct a hard inquiry, which will lead to a slight, but temporary decrease in your credit score.
Does petal verify income?
At Petal, in addition to your credit score, we analyze your banking history and transform it into a Cash Score — an alternative measure of your creditworthiness based on income, savings, and spending history.
Is Petal 1 or 2 better?

Yes, Petal does give credit increases to cardholders who use their card responsibly over time. All Petal card credit limit increases are automatic, since Petal does not currently allow people to request a higher credit limit on demand.

Instead, applying may lower your credit scores —usually by just a few points, according to credit-scoring company FICO®—because applying for a credit card will trigger a hard inquiry.
