What Happened To Detroit City?

Today, General Motors and the city of Detroit are bankrupt. The population fell to 700,000, and the city had the worst unemployment rate (more than 16 percent) of any large American city at the time of the decline. In retrospect, the exodus from the city and its subsequent demise began in the 1960s, when a construction boom forced residents out of the city and into the suburbs.
