What is a bull run valve used for?
The Bull Run Valve is designed to split flows to septic fields or systems. In addition to the advantages of longer life and easier installation it is the most public health safe alternating device available for wastewater disposal applications.
How does a bull run valve work?
A bull run valve is placed in-line between the two drain fields. The wastewater from the septic tank is diverted to the new drain field, allowing the old drain field to rest. The wastewater collects at the bottom of the drainfield, saturating the gravel bed below the soil.
What is a septic diverter valve?
Diverter allows one half of your septic system leachfield to go fallow for a few months to revitalize soil, prevent overloading, and reduce the growth of bio-matting. Three director valves will allow splitting flow between four separate leach field lines. Internal weir divides the flow, this is not a gate valve.

How often should you switch leach fields?
Many septic systems have 2 fields that should be switched every 6 – 12 months. If your system was designed with 2 fields, there is most likely a distribution box with 3 pipes. One pipe is from the septic tank or aerator and the other 2 pipes lead to each field.
What is an alternating septic system?
Alternating bed septic systems have two or more beds, so while one bed is treating water, the others are drying out. A drainage valve inside the tank controls which bed is used. A septic tank technician or plumber can use this valve to direct your water to your backup bed when it’s necessary.
How does a septic diverter valve work?
Diverter Valve/Distribution Box If you have a diverter valve, the valve separates the leach field into two fields. If you have a distribution box, the wastewater is distributed to each leach line equally. Each pipe in the box has a turn dial cap with a hole in the cap to allow water to flow into the leach line.

How do ball valves fail?
A variety of factors can contribute to ball valve failure including poor design (chemical compatibility, rated pressure/flow rate, etc.), faulty installation, and/or improper operation. Guidelines are available in literature to properly design a ball valve.
What is the difference between a gate valve and a ball valve?
The main difference is in the operation. A gate valve moves a solid disk up and down to open/close the orifice. A ball valve rotates a ball (the orifice) with a bore in it 90 degrees to open/close the valve.
What is FB in valve?
The “ Full port ” (FB) type features a bore size (the hole of the ball) matching the bore size of the connected piping. Full port ball valves minimize the pressure drop that is generated by reduced port valves but they are of course more bulky, heavy and expensive.
